The City of Chisholm has the "Chisholm Community Development Corporation" for the purposes of community development formed under Minn. Stat. 116J and is organized as an I.R.S. 501(c) 3. The corporation is a nonprofit corporation incorporated under chapter 317A and meets the other criteria in this subdivision. The corporation, in its articles of incorporation or bylaws, must designate a low-income area as the specific geographic community within which it will operate. The corporation's major purpose, is economic development, redevelopment, or housing in its designated community.
In Chisholm, the Community Development Corporation is comprised of a three to nine member board of directors with one member from Balkan Township. The board regularly meets monthly to consider development activities that meet the criteria of the organization. Meetings are held in the First National Bank of Chisholm's Board Room on the lower level at noon on the second Wednesday of each month and is open to the public.
